Predicted depression shapes are compared with previous plant observations. Depressions are predicted to form when the shell is subjected to either excessive compression or tension, but the shapes differ. It is coupled with a stress model that features temperature-, composition-, and phase-dependent thermal-elastic-visco-plastic constitutive behavior of the steel. The thermal model simulates transient heat transfer in the solidifying steel and between the shell and the mold wall. Model has been developed to simulate the temperature, stress, and shape of the steel shell near the strand surface, as it moves down the mold at the casting speed in a state of generalized plane strain. Many serious defects in the continuous casting of steel, including surface cracks and depressions, are related to thermal-mechanical behavior during solidification in the mold. ![]()

Most of the book listens in on the discussions the teacher, his wife, and his friends have about everyday life, love, and bureaucracy. It's a gentle satire told from the point of view of a household cat in the home of a teacher of modest means and abilities. I Am a Cat was written by Japanese author Soseki Natsume at the end of the 1800s and the beginning of the 1900s.
